Former manager Alan Curbishley has won his case for constructive dismissal against West Ham. A Premier League managers’ arbitration tribunal upheld Curbishley’s claim after the 51-year-old left the top-flight club in September 2008. Curbishley resigned after defenders Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney were sold against his wishes. Top seed Andy Murray beat Spanish qualifier Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-3 6-1 in his first match in six weeks. Murray, top seed at the Valencia Open, forged an early 4-0 lead in the opening set before losing three games in a row.
